Due to his experience as an embedded sport scientist (before RKC Waalwijk he worked 5 seasons at FC Eindhoven) and his specific knowledge about data handling and analytics, Folkert is the perfect addition to the Remiqz team. Folkert: “The soccer landscape is changing towards a more data-driven business. This is visible in the number of clubs using GPS trackers to measure physical load. Less common, however, is the use of highly detailed match data to get insights into how the team is working together in order to achieve a common performance”.
The past 5 years Folkert developed multiple models in order to analyze teams and their players. This expertise is crucial in developing the next steps for Remiqz. Folkert: “The usage of EPI and ECI has great potential, adding highly detailed match data to these models will help us understand better why a specific team/player has a specific ECI/EPI ranking. And thus, can give you more information why that specific player is important for the team”. Folkert continues: “For scouting purposes, using EPI in combination with highly detailed match data will give clubs a more detailed view on a specific player for the specific vacancy in the team”.
At Remiqz Folkert will help develop further the application of highly detailed ball data in the analysis. Moreover, due to his expertise as an embedded scientist in the sport setting, he is also important in the transfer of knowledge and analysis between Remiqz and her clients.
